AMT 1963 Shelby Cobra. Kit's Ford 289 benefited from a Parts by Parks pre-wired distributor and aluminum coil. I finally found a home for the Detail Master wire wheels and tires purchased over 15 years ago. I used the kit's axles and disc brakes. The kit's racing muffler was carefully removed from the exhaust pipes and replaced with a spun aluminum glass pack muffler from Detail Master. I also used Detail Master gage faces to bring a bit more life to the cockpit. This car represents a weekend racer and therefore still has factory stock bumpers in place. I could not resist temptation to use some racing number decals from the parts box. If you throw away the kit's modest wire wheels and oversized tires, a very nice early Cobra can be replicated.
